Journey to Southeastern

Animals have always been a big part of my life.  As a freshman at the University of North Texas I got involved with the Denton Humane Society and served on their board and rescue committee for several years. In 1998 I founded my own group, Casa de Critters, as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.  For almost a decade we served the North Texas area by rescuing dogs and cats from Denton Animal Control, having them spayed/neutered, and placing them in new homes.

I have had many wonderful volunteers that made it possible for literally thousands of animals to be saved.  Denton Veterinary Center reached out to help us at the very beginning and has provided an incredible amount of time and services to the homeless pets in the area.  I also am very grateful for the financial support of our sponsors and donors throughout the years.  The tireless efforts of many animal control officers have contributed greatly to our success.

As most of you know, I am now an Assistant Professor at Southeastern Louisiana University.  Therefore, Casa de Critters has 'paused'.  However, I will be continuing to update this part of the website with stories and photos of the special animals I was privileged to know.
